Deep purple wedding in NYC!

This was an April 28th wedding at the Midtown Loft in NYC. The couple want a mixture of modern, sleek, and unusual flowers. We used bell jars with lush vanda orchids and ferns on some tables and my serpentine vases on other tables. The blooms included black star callas, bear grass, picasa callas, orchids, and protea. Spring wedding at the Green Building in Brooklyn.

This wedding took place on April 8th, 2012 at the lovely Green Building in Brooklyn. The couple was incredibly creative and did so much work leading up to their big day. They designed little figurines which represented themselves at a rabbit and a monkey (: Of course, we may boutonnieres out of them! The tables were all long and the food was served buffet style by Frankie 457. (LOVE) The couple supplied me with a hefty bag full of little chochques, toys, figurines, and even a green stuffed bear. We used an assortment of containers including white milk bottles, vintage and new clear glass and mixed some quintessential spring flowers like tulips, vibrunum, narcissus, and chamomile. Overall the flowers were VERY simple, clean, and crisp. Brooklyn wedding at Bubby's in Dumbo.

This sweet at pie couple gave me total creative freedom to create their "modern woodland" style wedding flowers. They liked bold colors, brown bottles, and eclectic style. I can't remember exactly what the groom's fascination with larges pieces of drift wood came from, but, I think it was from a trip he and his now wife took together? Non the less, he brought this up and I got fixated on finding the perfect piece of wood for a card table display. I had this piece of wood drilled to fit water tubes in so we could create a look where the flowers looked as though they were growing out from it. We all loved it and it was super fun! Some of the flowers used for this October 23rd wedding were purple asters, fern, fiddle head ferns, billy balls, yellow ranunculus, celocia, stock, and wax flowers.

Pink & Purple Brooklyn wedding.

This August 20th wedding was held in the back yard of Brooklyn brownstone steps form where I live. I love when my neighbors email me to do their flowers and we realize we sort of know each other (: Her colors were bright pink's and purples. We used fluffy, bright blooms including Dahlias, lisianthus with more modern flowers like Picasa callas and dendrobium orchids. The boutonniere was made of purple lisianthus and jasmine.

I met this couple just a few weeks before their August 5th wedding in NYC. They were very excited to bring in some local Brooklyn people to collaborate on their wedding. The bride was so sweet and had no shame admitting that pink is her very very favorite color! The style we went for was sort of a mash of shappy chic meets the Hamptons. We used garden roses, jasmine, stephanotis, orchids, hydrangea, calla, tulips, and white and pink gomphrena and more.

Brooklyn museum wedding.

I am very excited to share with you this super fun wedding that took place on May 21st at the gorgeous Brooklyn museum. My bride wanted bright colored flowers with tons of texture and kooky shapes. She really wanted designs that were outside the box of what you would expect from wedding flowers and of course I jumped to the challenge. In the beginning she wanted to incorporate little herbs or plants for favors because she loves to garden, but, sadly the museum didn't allow soil ): This gave me the idea to incorporate little radishes into her design because I felt like that represented her. She loved it! You'll notice in the close up shot of the center piece where I sneaked one in. In addition to the main center, we added little silver julip cups with thistle, red spray roses and billy buttons. Her bouquet was made with bold colors and included red charm peony, yellow ranunculous, vibrunum, poppy pods, white ranunculous, white peony, and yellow spray roses. The bout's were SO much fun!! This is a horrible picture, but, I promise I'll post the professional one when they come. You may have read on a ton of blogs about this brides invitation. They were the most brilliant one's I have EVER seen. You can see it here. When I saw these invitations I was so inspired to somehow incorporate the musical influence. After some milling around in my head, it dawned on my that we could subtly add in a old record/45 insert at the base of the bout's! They were thrilled at the idea and I certainly have never seen this done (: There are a bunch more elements that went with this wedding, but, you'll have to wait for professional ones in the coming months (;

Brooklyn Botanic Gardens wedding flowers.

My bride contacted me last summer to start planning her Feb. 19th wedding at the Botanical Gardens this winter. I have to say, it means so much to me to have a bride place such trust in me and leave so many design decisions completely in my court. She came to me knowing her colors were purple and grey and that her style was modern with a funky twist, but that was it! NOTHING makes me happier than to hand over a bridal bouquet to a happy bride. I loved working on this wedding!

The card table arrangement was made from Laurel branches with scallop shaped tags hanging from black ribbon assigning guests to a table. I wired in purple orchids into the branches for a pop of color and to soften the branches with blooms.

The grooms bout was made with a ranuncuous, purple trachelium and a touch of brunia.

Black and white winter wedding for a NYC couple.

On this bitter cold day a very sweet couple got hitched! The bride wanted clean, simple, elegant yet playful flowers. Our wintery mix included Anemone's, brunia, Tibet roses, Star of Bethlehem, Ranuncs and Narcissus for the moms! The bridal bouquet and the groom's bout got a special feathery touch using white ostrich feathers.
