Wedding at The Foundry, L.I.C. by Rebecca Shepherd floral design

This wedding took place on September 9th, one of the most gorgeous days of the year. This was also one of my favorite weddings this year to design. We kept is sophisticated and modern with a touch of glam-goth! We used David Austin patience garden roses, bells of Ireland, black star callas, red ranunculus, cymbidium orchids, chocolate cosmos, and the exquisite Tacca orchids for the over the top dramamarama additive. These are by far the most unusual orchids I have even encountered. We used them in special places like the bridal bouquet, the cake table, and scattered on the long table.  Another one of my favorite touches were the mixed silver and gold chairs and silverware. Brooklyn wedding!

Dramatic, elegant, avant-garde, overgrown; there are all words that I would describe this intimate wedding affair. The ceremony took place at the brides gorgeous Brown stone in Carroll Gardens. We hung a family heirloom, tallis in the door frame for the focal point of the ceremony. We hung tea lights along with some champagne ribbon interspersed between the tea lights over head. At the base of where they were standing was a group of tall pillar candles in clear glass for a sophisticated, romantic effect. The party then took place at the Clover club on Smith street. With it's gorgeous tin ceiling, wood work and tile floors, we set the tone by using all vintage brass ware with eggplant, peach, and rashpberry colored blooms like fritterella, garden roses, deep red cymbidium orchids, dark foliage, lisianthus and jasmine. It was a pleasure to work with the gals from Little Miss Party Planners as well as the ultra talented Levi Stolove Photography!

Rose installation at Saint Vitus Bar, Brooklyn.

This project was a gift to my husband and his partners who recently opened up the much anticipated Saint Vitus bar + music venue in Brooklyn. They have been open for one week and already have regulars! When I saw the architecture come together with the all the metal finishes, black tiles, wood and velvet, there was no hesitation for what I was going to do. The iron mesh where the lighting is hung above the bar was perfect for hanging roses! A few hundred of them (:

It looks like I'll be doing some projects here in the future. Come down for a drink and gaze at the pretty flowers if your in the neighborhood.

reBar in Dumbo brooklyn was the venue for this sweet as pie couple. This venue is one of the coolest, relaxed spaces I have worked in so far. It features a barrel-vaulted terra-cotta ceiling, Art Deco lamps over tables of elegantly warped wood, and stained-glass windows. A converted industrial loft space, this intimate upstairs venue boasts intricate iron and steelwork, antique tulip chandeliers, and stained-glass windows.

The style was old world/french inspired using a range of colors from burgundy, blues, dark reds, and a touch of yellow. The bridal bouquet was composed of Black baccarra roses, wine scabiososa, yellow freesia, blue delphinium and pinkish red foliage. The handle was a natural wire wrap.

The Harvest table turned out spectacular. The two center pieces were made with Manzanita branches reaching out from a black urn. The branches were dripping with test tube cylinders and globes stuffed with flowers and chandelier bits hanging in between. Bird cage lanterns were mixed in between smaller arrangements on either side.

The ceremony took place under the double arch which I did up with curly willow branches and hanging tea lights. At the top of each arch was a special focal point of flowers made up of Black baccarra roses, and hanging pink amaranthus which gave an enchanted feel to the ceremony site.
